This opportunity places you at the tip of the spear for Engineering,Operations and Maintenance, Cyber Security, and Defensive Cyber Operationssupporting the warfighter in the Southwest Asia area. USAFCENT is the air componentof United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a regional unified command.USAFCENT, in concert with its coalition, joint and interagency partners,delivers decisive air and space power on behalf of USCENTCOM for the securityand stability of the Southwest Asia (SWA) region. The USAFCENT NOSC deliverscyberspace command and control (C2) superiority to the warfighter byengineering, implementing, securing, managing, operating and maintainingUSAFCENTs Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), SecretInternet Protocol Router (SIPRNet), USCENTCOM Partner Networks (CPN-X), and associatedC2 networks, systems and services. The USAFCENT NOSC executes thefull-spectrum of IT services management and operations for USAFCENT networks 24hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week (24/7); and is tasked by USCENTCOM to provideinformation assurance (IA) boundary intrusion detection and intrusionprevention for USCENTCOM components. Comprised of NOSC operations, operationssupport, cybersecurity, network engineering, and command support functions, theUSAFCENT NOSC plans, engineers, installs, integrates, operates and maintains,protects and manages enterprise-wide network and systems architecture,infrastructure and services; and provides enterprise-level oversight to itssubordinate and supported communications support activities. Candidates will be working atShaw AFB, SC and/or Lackland AFB, TX. Frequent temporary duty (TDY) and/ordeployment travel to OCONUS locations in the USCENTCOM AOR is required tosupport sustainment, site surveys, installations, upgrades, integration,testing, troubleshooting and other mission-related requirements. The candidate for thisposition provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problemswhere analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, providesimaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions consistent with organizationobjectives, possesses complete understanding and wide application of technicalprinciples, theories, and concepts in the field, has general knowledge of otherrelated disciplines, and provides direction to employees according toestablished policies and management guidance. Systems Enterprise DatabaseAdministration: Performs high-level, day-to-day operationalmaintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systemsworkstations and servers on multiple operating systems. Implements and maintains smooth operation andphysical design of databases. Coordinates, directs and performs complexdatabase software installations and upgrades to operating systems and relateddatabase software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades andmaintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Continually monitors and tunes multiple databasesystems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures database data integrity by evaluating,implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities. Ensures database recoverability by developingand implementing a schedule of database backups and archive operations. Plans and implements the modernization ofdatabase implementations. Develops, implements and promotes standardoperating procedures and schedules. Conducts audits of databases to ensurecompliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Develops and implements new standards, policiesand procedures. Incumbent in this job works closely with SystemsAdmins, database engineers, and software developers to help determine anddevelop the database software and databases that will be implemented. Specific duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Design and deploy database architecture andsystems infrastructure for the military IT systems. Create strategies for performing repetitivetasks such as data acquisitions, migrations, data recoveries and new databaseimplementations. Review, analyze, troubleshoot and resolvedatabase, including access and performance errors/issues. Define data requirements for database design andimplement policies that lead to corporate solutions. Establish guidelines for security, maintenance,utilization and business continuity. Lead efforts in performance tuning andoptimization needed to maintain customer applications. Create documentation that provides guidelines inregards to maintenance tasks, policies and procedures Perform all routine scheduled databasemaintenance activities. Perform analysis forcollaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing,upgrading and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software using aproject-based timeline. Qualifications Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, four (4) years of additional experience is required. In addition the following certifications and skills are required: Network+ CE, MCSE Server Infrastructure, MCSE Data Mgmt & Analytics, and ITIL Foundation. Desired Qualifications ITIL 4 Foundation certification or any ITIL v3 Intermediate certification. Any equivalent IAT-I certification, if not the certification listed above.
